How do I know if it's real copper?

Real copper is not magnetic. Hold a magnet to it, and if it sticks, it is not pure copper. Ours is solid 99.9% copper, so a magnet will not stick. It is one metal all the way through, with nothing plated on top.

Copper care

Solid 99.9% pure copper, unplated, shaped by hand. It will darken with wear, and that is the point. To bring back the shine, half a lemon and a pinch of salt, then rinse and dry.

Every piece is shaped by hand, so allow a little time. In-stock pieces ship within two working days. Returns within 30 days, worn or unworn, no questions asked.

4 Reasons Women Have Worn Copper for 3,000 Years

A Tradition That Predates Fashion

From Egyptian queens to Roman soldiers, copper has been worn against the skin for over 3,000 years, across almost every culture that ever found it.

Made for Daily Wear

Light enough to forget, heavy enough to feel. Petra's cuffs are hammered to be worn every day, in the shower, in the garden, while you sleep, without ever taking them off.

Develops Your Patina

Real copper changes with you. Within weeks it develops a patina unique to your skin, a quiet record of every day you have worn it. No two pieces ever look the same.

Shaped by Hand by Petra

Made at the bench, one at a time. 99.9% pure copper, the same metal worn for centuries. No machines. No coatings.

About Holistic Copper

Every piece starts with the same intention: to be worn by someone who wants something real against their skin.

Copper has been pressed to human skin for thousands of years, by Egyptian queens, by Roman soldiers, by every generation of women who came before us. Worn quietly, daily, without ceremony.

Holistic Copper began at a workbench, with Petra. She learned copper from her grandmother's habit long before she learned it as a craft, and after thirty years at the bench she still shapes every piece by hand, one at a time. Solid 99.9% copper. Nothing plated. Nothing hidden.

Every detail matters to her: the weight, the finish, the purity. Because the women who wear these should know exactly what they are putting on.

Each piece is made by hand in small batches. There are only ever so many, and when they are gone, they are gone.

My Grandmother Wore Copper Every Single Day

Never took it off. Not in the shower, not when she slept, not even at her wedding.

We called it superstition. She called it habit.

She wore copper the same way her mother did, and her mother before her. It was never a decision, just the thing she reached for every morning before the kettle had even boiled, the same worn bangle sliding onto the same wrist it had sat on for fifty years.

As a girl I thought it was old-fashioned. I wanted gold, shiny things, whatever the other girls had. Hers was dark in the creases and soft pink where her skin had polished it, and I could not see the point of a piece of jewellery that changed colour and never sparkled.

For years I didn't understand it. Then one afternoon, long after she was gone, I really looked at that bangle. Nearly black in the hammer marks, mirror-bright exactly where her thumb had rested a thousand times a day. It was not jewellery. It was a record. You could see her whole life in the way the metal had worn.

And I understood what she'd had all along, and what I think most of us have lost: one small ritual, done without thinking, that tied her to her mother, her grandmother, and every woman before them. Three thousand years of women doing the same simple thing every morning.

So I learned to make them. Solid copper, shaped by hand, one at a time, the way hers was made. Not to be perfect, but to be worn, and to slowly become yours the way hers became her.

Her bangle is on my wrist now. I make these so that ritual doesn't end with her.

Frequently asked questions

What makes these worth it?

Solid 99.9% copper, one metal all the way through, with nothing plated to peel or fade. Each one is shaped and finished by hand by Petra, so it has real weight and no two are ever identical. A piece made to be worn every day for years, backed for life against any fault in the making.

Why do women wear copper?

Because it is the oldest jewellery there is. Copper has been worn against the skin for over three thousand years, by Egyptian queens, by Roman soldiers, by generation after generation of women. It is the metal of Venus. Women wear ours as a small daily ritual, something they put on every morning that means something, and that quietly becomes their own as it ages.

What makes yours different?

Most copper jewellery is thin, plated or machine-pressed. Ours is solid 99.9% copper, hand-hammered, with real weight and a finish left to age instead of sealed under lacquer. You feel the difference the moment you pick it up, and if you don't, you have thirty days to send it back.

What's it like to wear day to day?

It warms to your skin in seconds and quickly stops feeling like something you have put on. Over the first few weeks it darkens into a pattern shaped by you, so within a month it looks like no one else's. Most women tell us they simply forget to take it off.

How do I look after it?

Barely at all. Wear it and let it darken, that is the whole point. If you ever want the bright shine back, half a lemon and a pinch of salt brings it up in seconds, then rinse and dry. If it leaves a light green mark on your skin, that is just copper meeting your skin's oils and it washes straight off.

Can I wear it in water?

Wear it everywhere: the shower, the garden, the gym, asleep. Water will not hurt it, it only speeds up the natural darkening. These are made to be lived in, not saved for best.

How fast will it arrive?

In-stock pieces ship within two working days, with tracking sent to your email. From there it is about 5 to 7 working days in the US and UK, 4 to 6 across Europe, and 6 to 9 to Australia. Batches are small and handmade, so popular pieces do sell out.

What if it's not right for me?

Send it back within 30 days, worn or unworn, for a full refund, no questions asked. Sizing swaps are free, once, either way. And every piece carries a lifetime guarantee on the craftsmanship, so you are never taking a risk.
